Nicole Thomas Clarke Calls for Respect for Tobago in Winning Calypso

Nicole Thomas Clarke successfully defended her Tobago Calypso Monarch title with a calypso calling for greater respect for the island and recognition of the people who helped earn it.
Her message placed Tobago’s achievements alongside the hard work behind them. It was a call to honour those whose efforts have helped build the island’s standing, and to give their contributions the recognition they deserve.
That connection between pride and acknowledgement gave her performance its focus. Respect for Tobago also means remembering the people who worked for its progress. Celebrating the island’s accomplishments should include recognising the effort that made them possible.
Thomas Clarke brought that message to the finals on Tuesday, 27th October, where she competed among ten contestants and retained the crown. Her successful defence provided a platform for a tribute extending beyond her own achievement to the people who have contributed to Tobago’s development and reputation.
The title stays with Nicole Thomas Clarke. The recognition at the heart of her calypso reaches much further.
